Giving value to its excellent qualities and being organized to face, in a competitive manner the national and international market, in the past years the Fondazione has guided the development of some successful spin-offs in various sectors.
The skills, operational procedures, good medical, assistance and management practices created by the Fondazione become development models and permit the Gemelli to “leave” the historical Roman campus and create, with its know-how, other health experiences. Paving the way for possible relations and collaboration networking that benefits an audience that becomes increasingly bigger in territory and communities, the Gemelli spreads a culture of treatment that is a benchmark for others.

The Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, a minority shareholder of Mater Olbia SpA and scientific partner of the Qatar Foundation Endowment, owner of the facilities, manages the medical activities of the new hospital, bringing its know-how, professionalism and skills in order to manage a difficult and complex health system and hospital services in an area where until now the demand for treatment has been higher than the offer.
The Mater Olbia offers a wide range of services, among which specialized neurological, orthopedic and pediatric services, as well as a state-of-the-art radiation therapy center.
The facility has 250 hospital beds, of which 200 are for Regional Health System assistance and 50 are for private practice assistance. Diagnostic services, such as the analysis Laboratory, Image Diagnosis and the Specialized out-patient service have also been accredited.
Through a big data platform, created in collaboration with General Electric, Mater Olbia is able to provide more effective, quicker and targeted treatments and it can also be a precious reference point for the Sardinian hospital network.
Thanks to the strong relationship with the School of Medicine and Surgery at the Università Cattolica, the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS represents the perfect combination of scientific and technical skills, sensitivity and human ethics, that make it an excellent hospital, both in terms of quality of treatment and of accessibility for the entire community: a hospital that truly takes care of people, not focussing just on the treatment of illnesses.

Clinical Trial Center
The Clinical Trial Center SpA is a company owned by the Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli and partially owned by Principia SGR, and during its first year of activity it achieved important results regarding profit medical experiments.
The contacts established with pharmaceutical entities, along with the strong involvement of the Fondazione’s researchers, have led to an increase in the amount of new studies launched and, consequently, also in the amount of the Ethics Committee support activities: in 2018 there was an impressive total of 216 analyzed cases.

Gemelli Health System (GHS)
The Gemelli Health System (GHS) is a company created within the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli and deals with personalized therapies obtained thanks to mixtures of micronutrients.
GHS is committed to implementing treatments with nutrient mixtures for rare diseases and specific patients, with approaches increasingly personalized that enhance the Gemelli’s commitment, closing the gaps in the offer of micronutrients and macronutrients.
The idea of a company focused on Alimenti a Fini Medici Speciali (AFMS) (Special Medical Foods) came from the implementation, put into effect by the Policlinico Gemelli experts, of a European guideline named ERAS, created with the intent to improve the patient’s operative and post-operative care.
All doctors at the Gemelli take part in this project and have put into practice the ERAS guideline through the use of nutrient mixtures (NutriCatt) in order to make a line of Special Medical Foods available, that is capable of responding to the specific wellness request, that doctors receive from patients and their families on a daily basis.
Each GHS product is created by choosing active principles and nutrients that have been carefully selected, containing absolutely no pollutants nor impurities, in order to guarantee a final product that offers the best quality to each patient, according to his or her individual needs.
GHS will make a toll-free number available specifically to provide information and will make its products available to patients all over Italy through a logistic network and a certified productive supply chain.
