The Policlinico Gemelli, through the Operational Unit “Coordination of organ and tissue donation for transplants“, performs the removal and transplant of organs and tissues in accordance with Law April 1, 1999, n°91.
Its duties are:
- ensure the immediate notification of the donator’s medical and biological information to the appropriate Regional Center for Transplants and to the National Center for Transplants;
- coordinate the administrative measures regarding the removal procedures;
- take care of relations between the families and donators;
- organize the informational and educational activities regarding donations and transplants.
