The Gemelli Window – HCV is the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS service instituted at the Center for Digestive System Illnesses (CEMAD), in order to facilitate treatment accessibility for patients with a Hepatitis C diagnosis.
In 2014 the Lazio Region, not unlike other Italian Regions, decided to concentrate the treatment for HCV chronic infection in hospitals with proven experience in the diagnosis and treatment of this infection and that were also able to appropriately manage patients with any degree of hepatic HCV-related illness (Prescribing Centers). Within the 14th District of the ASL Rm 1, the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, along with the Presidio Ospedaliero San Filippo Neri, have been selected as the Prescribing Center.
For this purpose, the FPG has established a PCA in order to appropriately and promptly take care of patients who are eligible for such treatment. Through such procedure, patients with a Hepatitis C diagnosis in the active phase can go to the Window to request information about the available treatment and/or make an appointment at the Hepatology Clinic (Wing D, 7th Floor) or at the Infectious Illnesses Clinic (CEMI Wing, 0 Floor).
Patients with a suspected Hepatitis C infection can also go to the Window to receive information about the planned assistance procedure.
In the interest of strengthening the Hospital-Region relationship and in order to guarantee patients’ assistance continuity, the Window is the point of contact where General Medicine Doctors (MMG) can interact with colleagues of the Fondazione’s specific clinics.
The telephone number 06 3015.6265 is active Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
Otherwise, it is possible to contact the Window by e-mail: ambulatorio.epatiti@policlinicogemelli.it.
